Shot for Nasty Pig’s 2014 holiday campaign, our classic “Give Receive” commercial was supposed to air on Time Warner Cable in New York City during American Horror Story, but it was pulled at the last minute because it was deemed “inappropriate.”

After Rich Juzwiak (@richjuz) wrote a story for Gawker about TWC’s discriminatory practices, the article sparked a global conversation about advertising, gay visibility, equality, and homophobia. The cable company ultimately caved under pressure, and the ad ran the following week.
